Vivekananda - great guy!

Just wanna say the following:
Real religion is nothing but LOVE. Many people call themselves religious but don’t act the way they should do. For example our political leaders: Merkel (german chancellor, member of a so called christian party and daughter of a christian priest), Obama & Co are calling themselves christians but don’t act the way. They are serving the greedy rich becoming more and more rich and creating more and more poverty. That’s the contrary of what Jesus preached. Let’s switch to India, a beautiful country with great philosophy i visited in 1999. What said Gandhi? Nobody is untouchable, women are equal to men, … . All over the world we have to stop and fight poverty and unnecessarily suffering. So, we have a long way to go.

Let LOVE rule & rock on!

Swami Vivekananda’s Speech is awesome, no doubt, Such a commanding personality who made the audience of Chicago overwhelmed with his magical voice and words. No human being is able to achieve the eternal truth in full.
An ordinary person needs to know that all Religion is meant to show the mankind the way to eternal truth and he who seeks the Truth will be travelling the way through out his life. The more he dedicated himself to the process, the more he will be attaining peace.
The inspiring words of swamiji teaches that being blameless and self less at heart, being perfect in words and deeds can bring a person closer to God. Whether a Hindu, a Christian or a Muslim, if you are reading Bible, Geetha or Koran, if you are able to find the God within yourself, then you are a successful human being. Every Holy book contains verses that could correct our thoughts and deeds. Read all Holy Books without religious partiality, then live as it says, then you will discover yourself as a Hindu, a Christian and an Islam.
If you are able to love all human beings selflessly, and treat your friends and foes with tolerance and compassion, then they will find in you, the Godly spirit.
These are just my views…sharing with all of you…
No religion is a religion unless it teaches universal LOVE and TOELRANCE towards fellow being..

Swami Ji was a real secular person..A lot of so called Hindus today will call him a pseudo Secular..its sad! But he was the real face of India and its culture..far far above our usual fights between Hindu and Muslims and Christians..He is the only person who saw Tamo Guna in Western culture and Raja Guna in the way Muslims practise their religion..and he wanted us to assimilate all of that and make a new religion.I can only say one sentence of Swami Ji which clearly says what he meant by religion— ” The old religion said he is an atheist who does not believe in God, The new religion says he is an atheist who does not believe in himself”— I hope this speaks all..

today when are too worried about what is our religion we only think what god we worship or what script we read.We dont think how is our soul,…something he talked hundred years ago.Are we progressing???

This is actually fake..If you want to know how I know that, the Ramakrishna Mission itself admit that there is no voice recording of this great man preserved.There was only one very poor recording but that too destroyed after some time.So please dont spread fakes in the name of Vivekananda..I stayed in Belur Math for quite a some time..so I am authentic. This is NOT Vivekananda’s voice..and by the way, the last thing Swami Ji wanted was to find a place in a HINDU religious website..The ideal thing will be to place him in a secular place..He was a secular man of ’sarba dharma samanvaya’..his Belur Math is also a mix of Church,Mosque,Gurudwara and Temple architecture..go and see that..you will understand his message then. So its not only the awakening if Hindus that he talked about, he talked about the awakening of whole WORLD..no matter Hindu,Muslim or Christian..

Further, when the so called secular people say that all the religion are equal, then why do muslisms have any problem with the Hindus. In fact these secular people are only and only against Hindus. Why don’t Muslims and christians accept the teachings given in Hinduism. None of the Hindus say that leave our country. There are people raising slogan Pakistan Jindabad in our country. How can we tolerate them. Their heads should be cut off immediately as they are all betrayers and Jaichands. Just think of those days when there was rule of Vikramaditya and Shantanu over India. When there were no christians and muslims. Those days even the poorest person in India had so much of gold, that our country was called as a GOLDEN BIRD. Only after invasion of Mughals, Pathans, Afghans, Christians, this country started deteriorating and is stil deteriorating as their bastard sons are still living and even ruling our country.

This comment is for all those who criticize the real heros of our nation. The RSS is doing the best job it can for our country. There are some bastards amongst the Hindus itself who, i must say, are born hindus but are most likely to be cross breed of muslims. These people have nothing except to criticise hindus. First of all let us teach a pretty good lesson to these hindus. The rest will be taken care of. I feel ashamed that much loss done to Hindu community by the ’so called secular Hindus’ itself. There is a Pakistan and Bangaladesh inside India. How to deal with them and especially when some bastard fake hindus are supporting them. The so called secular only bother for muslims. What about those hindus who die in riots, killed and droven away from Kasmir and north eastearn states, burnt alive in trains, bombed and stabbed, womens raped. Is that what the Mohammad or the Paigambar of Islam has taught. And this is I think what their religion is comprised of raping women, killing innocents. So please for sake of God and sake of this country, stop criticizing and levelling stupid remarks against our heros and organizations which are committed for upliftment and strengthning of our nation and GREAT HINDU RELIGION or what is better called SANATAN DHARM.
Least is done by the other community for this nation. Every so called literate and open minded people say that when there are people dying of hunger, why should there be a nuclear test. Only those are being respected who have power. Only that country can bring peace in the world who has got power. Can you imagine that a country like Somalia, Ethopia where most of the population is Muslim, can bring peace on earth when they are themselves indulged in civil war.
How can we belive a Muslim when Islam itself says that all the so called idol worshippers i.e. Kafirs must be killed to establish peace on earth. Whether Hindu religion says so? Turn back the pages of history, every one can find that the followers of islam have shed blood on earth and till there is a single follower of islam and its subsidiary religion i.e. Christianity, there can never be peace on earth. Forgot the British Rule when innocent indians especially the hindus were killed in mass. How many muslims and christians do you know who have participated in freedom movement. How many of them were revolutionaries, besides, they always helped the britishers to rule over india. Even after creation of three nations, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, why the muslims were allowed to live in India whereas the Hindus from Bangladesh and Pakistan were killed mercilessly and heneously and womens raped and some of the poor who cannot cross the border, were forced to accept islam. Whether at that point of time, any of the muslims were forced to accept Hinduism, or the womens raped.
To be open minded and secular, you must read the history, Bhagwad Gita, Ramayan, Mahabharata and the Vedas and Puranas. Only a hindu has the capacity to tolerate any other religion. Only hindus says that all religion are equal. Muslims and christians say that their religion is superior in the world. When the world was sleeping, only Hindus had the wisdom and knowledge which was stolen from India and now the european countries have florished and because of some particular ‘fake hindus’ our country has befallen in a dark pit.
Let every real Hindu become Parashuram and save this country from the Malechha Jati people.

This is my attempt to answer the questions posed by Mr. Satyan Manavan -

1) Are you of the opinion that because YOU were born in Hindu religion, Hinduism is great? Who adds value to whom? Is it YOU who adds value to Hinduism or vice versa.

Answer: Who adds value to whom? —- My religion has provided me with great many spiritual truths, thoughts and ideas which have nourished me and inspire me to lead a meaningful life.

For example, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - The whole world is a family’; ah! what an ennobling thought.

In the Gita (6.32), Lord Krishna says to Arjuna,
“He who judges pleasure or pain everywhere by the same standard as he applies to himself, that Yogi, is regarded as highest.”
What a great pointer to judge right or wrong in any situation!

Definitely my religion has added value to my growth.

What is the test of greatness of any teaching/learning system? In my opinion, it is the character of personalities resulting out of such teaching/learning.

How many inspiring and great personalities has my religion produced!
Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhiji, Shri Aurobindo - millions of people adore them and MANY MANY more such personalities.

Their life and personalities add immense value to the religion.
So VALUE ADDITION is BOTH WAYS. (If I make mine a good personality, credit goes to my religion too)

Mr. Satyan, you can think of it like this - when a student (follower) is successful, recognition naturally comes to the teacher/alma mater (religion).

2) Did you choose to be born a HIndu even before birth, ascertaining to your own selves that Hinduism is the greatest religion? Were you born a HIndu by your own design? If so how did you know about Hinduism even before birth? If not, were you born a Hindu by accident? If you were born by accident, was not Hinduism imposed on you? Are you not behaving as if you chose to be born one?

Answer: I have already expressed my opinion about ‘greatness’ in the previous answer. I wouldn’t take my religion as an imposition. I take it as treasure (because it is) and a gift for my growth and the sense of pride truly arising out of the immense value of the gift.

3) If you were born a Christian or Muslim or any other, and if you had read about Hinduism, would you have declare then that Hinduism is the greatest religion? Answer this question to your own conscience.

Answer: We see that great values form the core of all religions. Hence each is great in its own way and if followed in right spirit will truly transform us to good persons. ( just as people approach Me, so I approach or accept them - Lord Krishna’s assurance in the Bhagavad Gita)

Swami Vivekananda, like the Aadi Sankaracharya, was a genious born to revive Sanathana Dharma, which is India’s true religion. The content of his speech and the thrust of his message is not at all new to me, having read so many of his published works. So many well known biographers of swami, and those that had the good fortune to actually listen to him, have spoken about he power of his speeches and the purety of the English language he spoke. From the speech that I heard in this site, I can make out that the speaker is a Bengali, because there are some pronunciations that help in this identification. The clarity of the speech and the power of the rendition do tally with what I have read about his speeches from the writings of his contemporaries. However, it would be nice if whoever has uploaded this speech confirm that it is an original recording and that this is indeed the voice of Swami Vivekananda. Even if it is not, whoever has rendered it has really brought Swamiji before our eyes.

We all know that Hinduism and other religions or experiences are not the same. However, one point has been missed. Even though religions are not the same in doctrine when it comes to the “convert or die from our hands or die in Hell from God, Jesus, Allah” or whatever, some similarities still do arise in all religions on SOME things such as: giving to charity or non violence to others. There are religions who teach this even though there are those who do not practice it or who distort their teachings to meet their own fancies. I for one do not like teachings of any kind who say “I’m better than you” or “Death to the unbeliever” or “Convert to Jesus or burn in Hell forever”. Those are childish teachings from the dark ages. Groups need to grow up from such a childish philosophy. Elements of Hinduism exists in other religions- they just don’t know nor do they want to see it or even believe it. But I see it. Like it or not, traces of Hinduism exists in some other religions- some more than others. If another religion hates me because I’m Hindu so be it. That its their choice for their hatred and will have to account for that in this life or the next. They will have to get rid of that hatred and violence and archaic thinking sooner or later- no matter how many lives they have to live to do it. I came to Hinduism under the understanding that they do not wish death and damnation on non Hindus- whether those non Hindus be Buddhists, Wiccans, Druids, Agnostics, Atheists, Jews and who ever else. Had Hinduism been like the others- like Islam and Christianity I would have bypassed it and gone to another religion. Many religions do NOT know the true and pure concept of “Love thy neighbor”. It is my understanding that Hindus DO KNOW the pure understanding of that. Other religions feel threatened by that kind of enlightenment. They get jealous and angry. Many religions “play god” with their teachings and that alone is spiritually dangerous for them. We must also recognize that there are extremists in all religions. They like to cause havoc for the peaceful good guy and we must be sure not label all people in a basket as bad people just because of some rotten apples who make things bad for everybody else.

God is One, but the politics of man’s spiritual goals (religion) is not the same and that is the difference. Christianity is no more Shintoism than Hinduism is Judaism; all believe in Deity, but all approach God in very different ways- so all religions aren’t the same, even if the Source is.

Rig Veda does say: “Two birds that are ever associated and have similar names cling to the same tree. Of these, one eats the fruits of divergent tastes and the other looks on without eating”.

While they both perch upon the same tree (such as dharma), have similar names and are born from the same Creator, they have different tastes. One might prefer to eat the fruit, another might choose insects. One might see another bird as an ally, another might see it as an enemy. And although they belong to the same species, like mankind, they’ll forever be different in the way they do things- such is the nature of religion…and mankind.

I am a Christian from the North East. My grandfather became Christian in 1944 i.e before present India was formed. I consider myself very much Indian as much as K S Sudershan considers himself as one. I am not proud of the Nuclear Test done (specially when there are thousands of Indian dying of hunger) nor am I proud of the Babri Masjid demolition (specially when we say the present India is a tolerant nation).

It is a myth that only a Hindu can love India. There are hundreds and thousands of Muslims and Christians who love India. For me my love for India is not expressed in making India a nuclear weapon armed nation. It is expressed in, say, making illiterate Indian literate or in making health care available to other Indian. Just because I don’t support nuclear bomb that does not make me less Indian; to accuse me and other Christians of being less Indian because of such stand is unfortunate and it does India no good.

I needed a speech for my 10 yr old son to say out in an interschool competition ( speech by noted person). I must have researched many famous speeches.But only Swami Vivekananda’s speeches, I felt, were motivating and coptivating enough. The message in this speech is also so clear. I hope my son also imbibes a little of relegion tolerance as I was taught to, by my father, who was an ardent follower of Swamijis teachings throughout his life.

This world of ours is full of self centered,egoists and cunning but powerful elite group of people who would go to any length to perpatuate and sustain the myth thereby protecting the status quo.
there is a great need to reach out to people all over the world and tell them the truth as it is. There is hope and we live by it all the times.

I have listened to her Kathas on TV Asia in the past, when I found out that she was going to be at the new Krishan Vrindavana Temple in Edison New Jersey, I cancelled any activities to see her and listen to what she has to say. I must truly be blessed to have attended such an event and be in her presence. The love and devotion she shows to our Lord (Krishna) and our Land (Barath) has given me new hopes for the future.

Bless you Ritambhara Devi, and bless all your activites which you undertake; for it is in the spirit of all that is pure, ture and holy.

why do christianity n islam Recruitin ppl in t name of god? convert/ recruit is like armforce gettin as many manpower as possible to rule wad they wish to be? tats monarch ? not a religion! if god is so great (god) doesnt need mere mortal for recruiting cuz every mortal soul cant defy god;s will if its true as such millitant Organisation try to make it great or t only true one is total lame … get a life?

I think Julius has some mental disorder, (perhaps eccentricity) and not I. This is another mentality of Hindus, of jumping to hasty conclusions, invariably lacking wisdom. I just have a couple of questions to Hindus, to ponder over.

1) Are you of the opinion that because YOU were born in Hindu religion, Hinduism is great? Who adds value to whom? Is it YOU who adds value to Hinduism or vice versa.

4) If you Hindus cannot answer the above questions, then are you not all hypocrites? Are you not all deceiving your own selves? Are you not all living a life designed by somebody else for you?
